People will do anything to stop being lonely - just as people will do anything to stop suffocating…That is the great American disease, which is so easily exploited by cynical people. It’s loneliness. It is unbearable.

Food doesn’t taste better or worse when documented by Instagram. Laughter is as genuine over Skype as it would be sharing a sofa. Pay attention. Take in nature, hold someone’s hand, read a book. But don’t ever apologize for snapping a photo of a sunrise after a hike, or blogging about the excitement of having a crush, or updating your goodreads account. All of these things are good and should be celebrated. Smile at strangers on the sidewalk and like your friends’ selfies. It’s all good for the human spirit.

I don’t know if anyone has noticed this but when Ygritte was dying and this shot panned out, the background is split between fire and snow. It looks like the fire is for Ygritte - kissed by fire - and then the ice/snow on the other side is for Jon.

I want [female characters] to be allowed to be weak and strong and happy and sad – human, basically. The fallacy in Hollywood is that if you’re making a ‘feminist’ story, the woman kicks ass and wins. That’s not feminist, that’s macho. A movie about a weak, vulnerable woman can be feminist if it shows a real person that we can empathize with.
